Feature Guide
Automatically displays simple descriptions for features, helpful for determining the applicability for the situation at hand. It can easily be disabled through the camera's menu.
Scene Intelligent Auto mode
Incorporates a number of Canon technologies when analyzing the image, choosing the exposure and enhancements to deliver the best possible exposure by in any scene or situation.
High Dynamic Range (HDR)
Merges three images of varying exposure in-camera (adjustable to cover a range of ±3 stops) and saves them as one final image, capturing a broad range of shadow and highlight detail with stunning tonal range.
Multiple exposure control
For film-like image creation in both RAW and JPEG with the convenience of in-camera processing. Using either additive or average compositing methods, multiple exposure shots are combined and stored as one final image.
Handheld night scene mode
Shoots and combines four consecutive shots at a shutter speed fast enough to avoid camera shake, simply and easily capturing nightscapes with bright highlights and detailed dark areas without the use of a tripod.
HDR backlight control mode
Automatically shoots three consecutive shots at different exposures and combines them into one image, maintaining detail in both the shadow and highlight areas, ensuring the backlit subject is properly exposed.
Seven creative filters
Easily previewed in real time using Live View, including Grainy Black and White, Soft Focus, Fisheye Effect, Toy Camera Effect, Miniature Effect, Art Bold Effect and Water Painting Effect.
Multi Shot Noise Reduction tool
Combines four consecutive shots to eliminate more noise than the traditional Noise Reduction filter, with little or no apparent resolution loss. Moving subjects are even optimized to minimize subject blur.
Lens aberration correction
Peripheral Illumination Correction corrects light falloff in the corner of the image based on the lens being used. The chromatic aberration correction tool fixes distracting color fringing at the time of shooting.
TTL metering with 63-zone metering sensor
Metering modes include evaluative (linked to all AF points), partial (center, approx. 7.7% of viewfinder), spot (center, approx. 3.0% of viewfinder), and center-weighted average.
Exposure control systems
Creative zone: program AE, shutter-priority AE, aperture-priority AE, manual, bulb, custom; Basic zone: Scene Intelligent Auto, flash off, creative auto, and seven special scenes.
Optional GPS receiver GP-E2 (not included)
Can record location, including latitude, longitude and altitude, and trajectory of movement. An electric compass records the camera's orientation, and GPS syncing records world time information.
Image rating
Helps organize images recorded to the camera's storage. Simply rate images from one star to five and browse, print and create slide shows based upon those ratings.
